Important Offering and Meeting News

Posted on 09 February 2009 by lalunablanca

On this Full Moon, I have important news to share reflecting the Expeditions offering and pricing.

Membership Content:

We are building a site that will contain online video training content that we’ll be launching at the March breakfast.   The content will include "how to setup" as well as "how to apply" the most contemporary and necessary Social Media utilities.  The content will also include updates in Social Media news as there is much going on daily.  We will also be reaching out to understand a demand for audio CD’s that you can listen to in your car. We have spoken to many people who see value in the multitasking of driving while listening to news about Social Media.  We do not have separate pricing on this and are absorbing the content at least for the remainder of 2009 via the pricing increase outlined below.

Pricing News:
Although it’s a great pleasure to make the monthly meetings happen, at the end of 2008 LunaWeb had just over $15,000 in liabilities associated with this event. To reduce the liability in 2009, we’re raising the monthly meeting pricing to $20.  In addition to the monthly meeting, this fee will also provide access to the aforementioned Membership Content. Bundling the meeting and the content together brings the greatest palpable value.

Beyond Memphis:
We are looking for ways to additionally economize by taking this model to similar cities wherein additional participation can provide additional value in content.

I’m making this announcement on the Full Moon, but realize that the automated Meetup system has already sent out email. I regret the surprises you may have already encountered without an explanation.

Please let me know your comments and questions here on the blog or via email.

Kind Regards,
Dave

Dave – Great news about the Membership Content and audio training being available soon.

The increase in price is definitely worth it in my book. The meetings have been a wonderful source for my on-going Social Media education. The audio training will only enhance this experience.
    Hats off to LunaWeb!

I think the value is definitely there to justify a price increase, and really taking SM Expedtion to a membership model is a solid step toward building the future of the organization. I am very interested in the membership content element. Our group has diverse interests and participation levels in the social media, and I think the “training content” would make us even more cohesive.

I totally understand some of your reasons behind the fee. Not too long ago i tried to run a Luncheon montly meeting around eLearning and it was extremely difficult to continue even after university sponsorship. So from that stand point i am totally in support with you on the pricing. Ideas about the video and other content being available is reasonable too. How about doing some podcasting?

Thanks for your supportive responses. I’ve got a great feeling that we’ll be constantly evolving over the next year. Much like we have our first year.

Podcasting is on the radar. For the last 3 months, we’ve had a Social Media Expedition segment on the Small Biz Show that airs on Saturday morning (terrestrial radio). It’s a weekly update of the biggest social news we can cram into 7 minutes.

  5. Beth G. Sanders Says:

I can imagine the expenses related to the Social Media Expedition breakfasts musts be high. You have worked so hard to provide quality information and content. I’ve come away from every meeting not only jazzed about social media but with a head full of new and useful knowledge.

I’m excited about the new changes and additional learning opportunities.

    Looking forward to March!
