Do you podcast? Do you listen to podcasts? Have you ever entertained the thought of recording one for your blog, your business or just for fun? If so, listen up. Memcast, an informal gathering of the Memphis podcasting community, is happening on Monday, Dec. 14 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Republic Coffee.

There will be munchies and drinks provided, and the atmosphere will be casual: come as you are, and as you can. Arrive late, leave early, we’re not picky — we just want you there. There aren’t any formal presentations or set topics or rules, just a group of people with a similar interest coming together to toss out ideas, share experiences and help sharpen the collective skill of the city’s podcasters. Whether you’ve been recording for years or you’ve only thought about getting started recently, there will be much to gain from the conversation.

Informal truly is the name of the game, but we’ve set up a Facebook event page just to give us a rough idea of how many people to expect (for munchie estimates, of course). If you’re planning on attending, head there and let us know. The good folks at Republic have free wireless, so we’ll be able to show and tell to our hearts’ content, just bring laptops or any other equipment or cords you need to make it happen.
