Core Conversation #1: Feedback Friday

You may have seen our post earlier today – you may even have listened in, but if you didn’t, we’ve been using the call-in podcasting tool, BlogTalkRadio to create a weekly participatory podcast.

In this week’s edition, we batted around the idea of repositioning Twitter’s constant trending topic, Follow Friday, usually branded #FollowFriday or #FF, as Feedback Friday, or #FeedbackFriday.

The idea is simply that if you’re unsure about whether you’re using Twitter – or any other social networking service – to its fullest potential, you can put word out there that you’re open to feedback.

During today’s conversation, we talked about a lot of Twitter habits that both die hard and need to die, like oversharing, overtweeting, and overmentioning.

Feedback Friday takes off

If you’ve been around Twitter for more than a week, no doubt you’ve noticed the hashtag #FollowFriday and its acronym, #FF.

They’re great ways to find new and interesting people to follow, but we’ve also noticed things like #twitterrules entering the trending topics.

Every once in a while, we all to pull someone aside and say, “hey, I don’t like it when you tweet fifteen times in five minutes about meaningless things.”

We’d like to provide a safe place to do that. We’d like to create an environment where everyone who uses Twitter or other services can get some friendly coaching.

Which is why we’re reclaiming #ff in the name of #FeedbackFriday. We’ll be hosting a call-in show via BlogTalkRadio from 11:30-12:30 today where you can call in and air your grievances.
